MAC Venomous Villains Review Part II

So the only product I bought from the Dr Facilier collection was MAC LE Resort Life lipgloss. Wow - i mean - Wowza.....

....check out the swatch!

A gorgeous apricot shimmer-ling sparkilicious number. Perfect for a dab at the top and bottom cushion of (i.e. middle 1/3 of upper and lower) lips to give the illusion of more of a pout. This is a must have IMO.

Right, onto the mineralised eyeshadows (MES). Two were released in the Maleficent collection: MAC LE She Who Dares and MAC LE My Dark Magic and both are very similar to the MES released in the MAC Style Black collection last year. However, you do get more bang for your buck in that you receive 3.2g (versus 2.2g Style Black MES) of product with much, much better pigmentation.

L to R : MAC LE She Who Dares and MAC LE My Dark Magic

MAC LE She Who Dares (first two swatches were not foiled and the last two were).

MAC LE My Dark Magic (first two swatches were not foiled and the last two were).

Aren't the foiled ones gorgeous.....:)

Well next onto the nailpolishes. They look so cool in the bottle and seem so un-dupeable (although I have heard rumours that Orly NPs in the US have great dupes) but *poo* here in Aus I have found no such thing. So, I needed to get my mitts on these and well, to be frank, I am very disappointed. The payoff is basically cr@p and I have to seriously layer the product on to get any opaqueness whatsoever (which means a day and forever for the darn things to dry).

L to R: MAC LE Bad Fairy and MAC LE Formidable

The only blush I purchased was MAC LE Bite of An Apple (Evil Queen). Yes, I know, I am a sucker for hype - thanks to MUA :) But no regrets here because I do not own a similar blush shade in my collection. It is HIGHLY pigmented and looks scary in the pan, but you can tone it down with a sheer layer only.

As you can see from the swatches below it is a matte, more red than orange coral, whereas MAC LE Hipness is more pink and NARS Torrid is similar but with a fine gold glitter.

L to R: MAC LE Hipness, MAC LE Bite of An Apple, NARS Torrid

So, final thoughts are...I actually love all the products save for the NPs and recommend you snap them up ASAP. The Buzz or hype on MUA was for MAC LE Bite of an Apple and I highly recommend both the MES. In Hong Kong, I heard the NPs were sold out quick-stat and in Thailand the beauty powder Oh So Fair. Each to their own I guess, but you need to check these babies out.....HTH

No. 539

I do not know how to put into words how much I wanted this. But of course, it's No 539- THE Dior LE Iridescent Leather eyeshadow quint that is so famous in the US, yet more difficult to find then the legendary Arc of the Covenant and more sought-after than Harry Potter's Philosopher's Stone. And yet.....I, INDIANA-CHICK Fi,... found it. In the Dior Cave of Langham Place Mall HK. And here, thou shall look upon my treasure find.....

Ahhhhhhh. Isn't it BE-UUUU-TTTIII-FFFUUULLL!!

Makeupalley

Have I ever mentioned makeupalley- no! whaaaaaa.....

Makeupalley (MUA) is a website dedicated to the makeup obsessed among us i.e. A La Moi. It works on the basis of trust. You search for items you 'lem' or MUA speak for 'wish' and try to swap them for stuff that simply do not work on you. The swaps can be generous and totally worth the price of postage - especially since you dished out dough for a product you will never use again.

So, here is my most recent swap from a lovely US gal - the NYX and NYC stuff were freebies as was the L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara I have always wanted (but discontinued in Australia).

My Fav is the MAC LE Smokey eyes Fascinating Ruby palette from MAC Red She Said Holiday collection. Another collector's item hee hee.

Others: UD Deluxe eyeshadows, NYC creme colour, NXY Thalia lipstick, NYX Sweetheart
lipgloss and L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara (not pictured).

Check MUA out - but beware, there are those less moral out there who will promise a swap and never deliver, i.e. akin to thievery. I like Miss Natty's MUA swapping rules...check out her website for more details, http://nattyngeorge.blogspot.com/

Product Hate: NARS LE Pleasures of Paris Palette

I hate saying: I love this, i luuuurve that, you have to have this, blah blah blah.

I am going to rebel.

I think its useful to tell people about your HG (holy grail) products but i thought I would share not only the good but also the bad, and the *very* ugly - affectionately now name-headed HS (holy sh*t) products.

NARS. Oh NARS.

Dear Francoise,

You make really great blushes - glitter bombs- but nice all the same. Yes, sex and trash sells, doesn't it? why not have a bit of 'torrid' in your 'Copacabana' - with 'sin' 'multiple orgasm' and 'deep throat'. Nice, real nice. But i guess it works, so who am I to slate it?

Anyway, famed bloggers go on and on and on *yawn* about the 'famous' NARS LE Pleasures of Paris Palette and in my opinion, just mine...it's BORING. ALL the colours are completely and utterly dupeable. I believe the only colour i actually liked was called 'Fez' - bottom left hand colour - but it is an exact copy of MAC's Bronze. And its not like the consistency was better- they are both very similar. Totally NOT WORTH the >100 AUD i spent on this stupid little thing. I mean what am I going to do with the pale purple shadow? It just looked dirty, 80's and cakey on my NC20 skin.

Yours Sincerely,

One unhappy customer
Dr F

It's up, yep.....

up for swap on makeupalley....maybe somebody will give it some love, because I have none for it.

I HAULED IN HK!

OKAY - so you must know I went on holiday by now. Yes, we took a bit of a detour via Hong Kong. What can I say - but, that I absolutely love this place. The shopping is - AMAH-ZINGGGG! The make-up is INSANE. So much choice, i think i started hyperventilating at SASA - it was makeup heaven...and tax-free and so cheap. And YES- that Dior with reflected light is the ELUSIVE LIMITED EDITION DIOR QUINT that i have been fantasizing about.

I can't wait to review everything and share my thoughts on the products with y'all!

In no particular order,

1. MUFE HD Foundation
2. MUFE HD Blush No.4
3. 3x sets of five falsies (really cheap at AUD 13.5 per set of five)
4. MUFE Aqua Eyes eyeliners (GWP)
5. MUFE Aqua Eyes in black
6. MUFE Aqua Creams in 15 and 9
7. Dior Amber Diamond
8. Dior Iridescent Leather quint Eyeshadow
9. Heroine Kiss Kiss mascara (Approx. AUD 13)
10. Majolica Majorca Lash Gorgeous (Approx. AUD 15)
11. Shu Uemura ME 850
12. Majolica Majorca SV 821

Enjoy the makeup porn -as we say on Makeupalley :)

My Little Baby Quint

DIOR Earth Reflections Quint No. 609

I missed out.... :( because I heart taupes. I want, wish and dream about the famous limited edition Dior quint Iridescent Leather.

However.

Dior Earth Reflections No. 609 (AUD 98) is the closest I have found to it. It is a bit on the cooler side- unlike IL- but it's the best I could find in good ol' Australia.

Dior quints are a bit of a hit or miss. But when they are a hit... they are of the red target kind. So finely milled and soft like BUTTAAAHHH.

Left (dupe): MAC Shroom for the first three shades in the middle row
Middle: white, pink, gold frosts, lighter taupe and darker taupe eyeshadows of Dior ER quint
Right (dupe): MAC Satin taupe

I think MAC Satin taupe is quite a good dupe for the lightest taupe in the Dior quint. But, the darker taupe is unique to me and I like-y!!!! :)
