That dress!

Ok - I am not a fan of VB. Never have been, never will be and I'll never understand the fuss... however, I do admit the woman has style. This was a dress she wore to an MTV awards show many years ago...but its classic and beautiful. I would love to have it in black sporting a bright red MAC ruby woo lippie....I think I had better keep on dreaming.....tee hee :)

I am looking forward to my lip rejuvenation next week (see previous post)...so I have sought some inspirational pics of lips from some of the most beautiful gals in the world!

Picture-perfect pout!

Pouty perfect lips can be achieved using injectable dermal fillers. These can be applied to upper and lower lip to enhance lip definition and volume. And as I near the age of 31, a tweak here and there is soon in order. I have never liked my lips - too thin an upper lip border and that tiny bit asymmetrical. Certainly not luscious, generous or even near 'Jolie-like'. I have spent 2 years in ugly braces dealing with pain, followed by major orthognathic surgery coupled with regular bleaching nasher sessions...that I have since, convinced myself that I deserve this. My teeth do - that is. Yes, I know - secretly, in an ideal world I would improve my nose profile (as I have a bit of a Roman -esque bump), or lipo would be nice, or even BA (otherwise known as breast augmentation). But- quite frankly-I am not that brave and I have to simply embrace what I've been given.

However, lip injections are only temporary, so if I don't like it - it'll be gone in 6-9 months.

So here goes my research....(my appointment is wednesday next week BTW eeeeeek :))

Temporary dermal fillers are injectable hyaluronic acid gels. Because they are naturally-occurring complex sugar molecules they reduce the chances of foreign body reactions and allergies. Thus, no pre-procedure patch testing is required. They act like a sponge, binding to water creating volume. They can be used to diminish wrinkles, nasolabial folds as well as creating fuller lips.

There are many injectable gels available but commonly Juvederm and Restylane are used. From what I have read, Juvederm is much smoother and finer in consistency providing a very smooth natural feel. Both products however, can be injected with lidocaine ( a local anaethetic) obliterating the need for dental blocks.

Treatment varies from 30 -45 minutes. The philosophy is 'less is more here' and there will be no 'trout pout'. So if I want a bit more of a touch-up, a second appointment can be made (included in the price of the vial).

Lasting effects 6-12 months.

Side effects include redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching and discolouration. There is also the risk of infection.

No alcohol before, off NSAIDs, avoid exercise and sunlight post-procedure.

The perfect lip proportions have been extensively analysed.

1. Using the concept of the divine Fibonnaci proportion. The ideal ratio of upper to lower lip is 1:1.6, my ratio has been calculated as 1:1.2.

2. The lower lip contour should be symmetrical on both sides with slightly less volume in the midline.

3. Elevate the lateral edges to give the appearance of plumpness

4. The philtrum columns above the cupid's bow should be straight and prominent

5. Correction of marionette lines to give upturned appearance rather than a sad-looking downturned lip.

Anwho, I will be posting before and after pics soon....wish me luck :)

GEO World Series Circle contact lenses

So by now, you must know that I believe in the philosophy ' there is always room for improvement'. I am always on the look out for that extra oomph; something to change about myself; to tweak, nip 'n' tuck..... but really -in essence- to make me look better and thus feel better.

And I believe I found just that.

Introducing......coloured contact lenses.

Not new, but improved. I bought these from Lenscircle.com and they are fabulous. They are authentic, easy to maintain and most importantly soft.

Take a look at the transformations.

I am hooked.....:)

Lick the bowl!

Grown is a luxurious organic skincare range available in Myer and National Pharmacies Australia -wide.

The packaging is very 1920s -almost Philosophy-esque- and very beautiful, which certainly stands out from the crowd!

It is packed with 100% organic essential oils and free of Lauryl Sulphate, Glycols, Petrochemicals, artifical fragrance, animal derivatives, silicons and parabens.

The product that in my opinion is 'da bomb' is the Vanilla and Orange peel hand cream. It is gloriously moisturing and it smells and reminds me of the yummy uncooked cake mix that mum used to make and once in the cake tin ready to bake; i used to 'lick the bowl' remnants clean.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss

Wow - I can't believe I got my grubby little mitts on these gems.

They are limited edition releases and include (top pic) from left to right: coral reef, peach petal and pink pop. They are smaller than the Chanel lipgloss glossimers but look very similar - very sophisticated.

I purchased them after a late night run from pharmacy to pharmacy trying to get hold of coral reef and pink pop (they had only been laid out on the shelves that day and were already sold out!!).

And now for the horrible :(...pouty lip posts....here goes,

Lip a la Naked

Coral Reef

Pink Pop

Peach Petal

They are opaque, frangrance free and most importantly non-sticky...so there will be no sticking of hair in blowy wind-type situations.

Another favourite quote....

The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings!

- Henry Ward Beecher

Orofluido is Hair-rific!!

You have to check-out this product! AMAH- ZING!

The name is Orofluido - Beauty Elixir for your hair.

It is a mixture of essential oils: Argan, Linseed and Cyperus Oil. The oils are rich in vitamin E and fatty oils. It claims to strengthen and de-frizz hair (especially those who - like myself - have fine hair) whilst keeping hair light, silky and very shiny.

It does just that.

Did I also mention that it also smells divine? I almost think of it as a 'hair perfume'. Certainly there is nothing more attractive to the opposite sex then the heady smells of the known aphrodisiac scent of vanilla.

Pour it ON, I say hee hee....(JK :))

Flowers make me happy!

A picture from my recent holiday in Egypt - I love flowers and I love pink.

Work has been non-stop recently and I felt a need for a pick-me-up! Hopefully, it gives you a smile, as it does for me :)....
